In the past week the big G has added some interesting new features and services to Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools, so let’s take a quick look at what they are doing.
Site Health – Webmaster Tools
Webmaster Tools is still an under used free tool by most small business owners and their new feature, Site Health, should be pretty handy. Google is obviously pretty excited about this new feature has they have redesigned the Webmaster Tools user interface around it.
Site Health will highlight any problems Google has with your site in an order that they see as the most important. As the majority of us rely on Google to deliver traffic to our business, it is pretty good advice to take on board.

Google Analytics In Real Time
One drawback to Google Analytics is there has always been a lag in having all of your data accumulated, but soon it will be in real time! YAY!!
Why so excited?
There are a few obvious benefits to having your data gathered in real time:
- Social media campaigns will be able to measured in real time, allowing you to learn, adapt and capitalise on how your social media circles react to a tweet, blog post or YouTube Video.
- Campaign tracking (this is the part that I am happy about) will be able to be implemented and tested to see if it is correctly implemented within minutes, allowing you to roll out your campaigns in full swing quickly while knowing the data is being collected.

Google Analytics Premium
Google has released a paid version of Google Analytics. This will not be for everyone and Google has set the pricing to make sure of that. Not available in Australia currently, but to give you an idea of pricing it would cost you around $150,000 US a year. The good news is they are offering monthly billing!
So what do you get for your $$$ $$$
Here are a few examples of the new features:
- Processing Power – For example; If your site racks up to 1 billion hits per month (the standard account can only handle 10 million hits a month)
- Advanced Analysis Tools – More custom variable slots
- Dedicated Support – Dedicated account management with phone and email support 10 hours per day, 5 days a week
