Adwords + Local Extensions

by Bradley Davis on July 29, 2009

google-local-extensionsThe “Inside Adword” blog by Google has announced that you will soon be able to add the full address of your business to their search ads through location extensions.

Local extensions can be set up by linking an AdWords campaign to your Local Business Center (LBC) account, alternatively you can manually enter addresses directly into AdWords. For example, a clothing brand that distributes to a number of different stores might want to associate their ads with various store locations through extensions, even though their official business address doesn’t correspond to those addresses.

Taking the time to add local extensions to your Google Ads should not be something you might do one day, it is something you should do as soon as it is available.

What Do Google Local Extensions Mean For You & Searchers?

For a searcher, being able to quickly see the location of a business will determine how relevant it is to them. This will also help pre-qualify them before they click on your ad. For your business, this means that you can reduce your Google Ad spend by not having searchers click on your ad if they are not geographically convenient to your location. This of course will increase your return on investment (ROI) and reduce your cost per lead/conversion.

What do you think about the addition of Google Local Extensions?
