Why Spamming Is A Bad Idea
A Brisbane Federal Court has handed down a fine to a Queensland man for $210,000 over one of the world’s biggest spamming operations. This however is nothing compared to the $16 million fine he received from US authorities.
Thomas Atkinson admitted in court that his company sent millions of unsolicited emails for replica watches, herbal goods and adult products.
In Australia alone his spamming campaign prompted 140,000 complaints to the authorities who have also banned him from sending unsolicited commercial emails for seven years.
